Romania Switches On Its Largest New Wind Farm in More Than a Decade, Adding 192 MW
Rezolv Energy has energised the first phase of its VIFOR wind farm in Buzău County, 30 Vestas turbines producing 192 MW, the largest wind project switched on in Romania in more than a decade.

Rezolv Energy energised the first phase of its VIFOR wind farm in Buzău County, Romania, on October 2, adding 192 MW of capacity that the company says makes it the largest wind project switched on in the country in more than a decade, according to a Rezolv Energy announcement.
Thirty turbines, each rated at 6.4 MW
Phase one has 30 Vestas EnVentus V162 turbines of 6.4 MW each, with 166-meter towers and 162-meter rotors, according to the Diplomat Bucharest. Rezolv estimates that the project will power more than 270,000 homes and avoid about 540,000 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent emissions a year. Both figures are company estimates.
Financing and corporate buyers lined up in advance
A consortium of eight lenders provided up to €291 million for phase one, and up to €331 million has been arranged for phase two. Six corporate power purchase agreements, with T-Mobile Czech Republic, Slovak Telekom, CE Colo Czech Republic, Bekaert, A2A and Etem Gestamp, cover more than 350 GWh a year, so a share of the output is already contracted.
A second phase is due in 2027
Phase two is scheduled for completion in 2027 and would bring VIFOR's total capacity to 461 MW. Rezolv CEO Alastair Hammond said the company “was established to be a leader of the energy transition,” and Jaroslava Korpanec, head of CEE infrastructure at investor Actis, said the commissioning “is illustrative of the momentum behind the business.” The announcement comes from the developer, so the capacity, household and emissions numbers have not been independently verified.
