A&W Canada's annual Burgers to Beat MS campaign raised $1.56 million this year, pushing its 18-year partnership total with MS Canada toward $25 million, according to A&W Canada.
A high stake for a high-rate country
Canada has one of the world's highest rates of multiple sclerosis, with roughly 12 people diagnosed every day. The funds raised support MS research, early-detection initiatives, treatment development, and support services for people living with the disease.
Restaurants and customers, one burger at a time
The money came in through A&W restaurants across the country, with franchisees and customers contributing during the annual campaign. This year's spokesperson, Olympic gold medalist Kristen Campbell, publicly shared her mother's 27-year MS journey for the first time as part of the campaign.
"How much good we can achieve"
"Every year, Burgers to Beat MS shows us how much good we can achieve when we gather together as community," said A&W President and CEO Susan Senecal. Eighteen years of the campaign have now raised close to $25 million for Canadians affected by the disease.
